Who built this
Kampress is made by Apurv Khare, a software engineer. It is not a company, a startup or a side hustle with a growth plan. It is one person's tool, put online because the alternatives were bad.
Why
Every exam form wants a photograph under some specific number of kilobytes, and every site that will do that for you asks you to upload the photograph first. I did not want to hand my Aadhaar or my PAN card to a server I know nothing about, run by people I cannot name, just to make a JPG smaller.
So Kampress does the work in your browser instead. The photo is never uploaded, because there is no upload step and nowhere for it to go. Your browser refuses to send it, and that refusal is enforced by a rule this site ships with rather than by a promise on a page like this one.
The other half of it is speed. Most converters spend their time sending your file to a server and waiting for it to come back, and on a phone connection that waiting is nearly the whole experience. Nothing here is sent, so none of that time exists. Every conversion tells you exactly how long it took, measured, so you can check that rather than take my word for it.

If something is broken, if a portal changed its limits, or if there is a format you need that is missing, I would rather hear it than not.
