Resize a photo for UPSC forms
UPSC allows a far more generous size range than most exam portals, so the usual problem is not compression but the other rules: dimensions, background, and the name and date printed below the photograph.

UPSC asks for 20–300 KB at 4 × 5 cm. Always check the current notice on the official portal; requirements change year to year.
How it works
- Add the photograph you plan to submit.
- The target is set for the UPSC range.
- Press the button to compress, then save it and check the other requirements before uploading.
Questions
What does UPSC require?
Typically 20–300 KB as a JPG at about 4 × 5 cm, with a plain background, and often with your name and the date printed underneath. The size is the easy part.
The size is fine but my photo was still rejected. Why?
Almost always one of the non-size rules: background colour, the printed name and date, or how recent the photograph is. Re-read the notice carefully.
