Compress a PDF
Most of a heavy PDF is its pictures: the scanned pages, the photos, the pasted screenshots. This shrinks those and leaves everything else exactly as it was, so the text still selects, searches and prints the way it did. Pick a size to aim for, or just make it smaller.

How it works
- Drop in the PDF that is too big.
- Leave it on "as small as its pictures allow", or tap a size to aim for.
- Compress, check the new size, then save the file.
Questions
Will the text still be selectable afterwards?
Yes. Only the pictures inside the file are redrawn; the words, fonts, links and layout are untouched, so you can still search and copy the text, and it still prints sharp.
Why did my PDF barely shrink?
Because there was little picture in it to shrink. A PDF made from a Word document is mostly text and fonts, which are already small, and this tool never blurs text to save bytes. Scanned pages and photos are where the big savings are.
Does the PDF get uploaded to be compressed?
No. The file is opened and rewritten inside your browser, on your own device, and the browser itself blocks this page from sending it anywhere. You can turn Wi-Fi off and it still works.
Does it work on a PDF that is mostly scans?
That is where it works best. A scanned page is one big photo, and a 5 MB scan usually comes down to a few hundred kilobytes with the page still perfectly readable.
