Password protect a PDF
A PDF with a password stops it being opened by whoever it ends up with next, whether that is the wrong inbox or a shared laptop. Setting one here never uploads the file or the new password; both stay in this tab, and the browser is what stops either one leaving, not a promise on the page.

How it works
- Choose the PDF you want to lock.
- Type a password, plus who is allowed to print or copy it.
- Protect it, then save the password-locked file.
Questions
Can I choose who can print or copy the PDF?
Yes. Along with the password, you can allow or block printing and copying text. Anyone who opens the file with the password you set follows those rules automatically.
What if I forget the password afterwards?
There is no way to recover it from here, or anywhere else, and that is what makes the password real. Keep it somewhere you will find it, because a forgotten one locks you out too.
Does this work on a PDF that already has a password?
No. A file that already has a password needs to be unlocked first; adding a second one on top of it is not something this tool will attempt.
